China Bans Horror Movies

Shanghai Daily

Young movie fans in China are thumbing their noses at the Government over its ban of horror movies.  The Chinese Government banned these movies last month with a statement from The General Administration of Press and Publications (GAPP).  I Think it is truely amazing how out of touch the Chinese Government is with its own people and the world.  Surely the GAPP knows that the people will just download the movies or buy the illegal DVDs.   One student said "The ban won't make much difference," says Yang. "We'll just download our movies from the Internet."

Ducks Can’t Fly and Other things Chinese people know.

/images/duck.jpg
I was surprised to find out that ducks cant fly.  Growing up in a small Missouri town of 800 people I was sure that I had seen ducks flying.  My father would tell me that he was going duck hunting, and while I never went duck hunting many of my friends also said they had went.  They told me stories of how they would go to the lake, set up their duck blinds and wait.  They would wait for the ducks to come flying in and then take their shots.  Little did I know that they all where in on a big lie.  Ducks can’t fly.  I learned this from my students in China by accident.  I had thrown some flash cards of animals on the floor and asked my students to give me the ones that could fly.  I got a bird and I got a bat but none of the children picked up the duck.  I told them that ducks could fly and to give it to me.  They refused.  Brimming with confidence that I rarely see in my Chinese students they steadfastly assured me that ducks couldn’t fly.

Western reports get a lashing from foreigners

Shanghai Daily

Shanghai Daily is reporting that not only the Netizens but foreigners are taking their side.  "WHILE some Western media have accused China of a "violent crackdown" on the "peaceful protests" in Tibet Autonomous Region, some foreigners have spoken out against the coverage."

So here we go again.  Does it ever end.  NO!

QUESTIONS: Do you know people in Mainland China who are Christians? Can they talk about their Christianity in public, or must they speak about it only in private?

Do you know people in Taiwan who are Christians? If so, can they talk about their Christianity in public, or are they ridiculed by their secular friends?

Is it safe yet for a Chinese person to be Christian, or must Chinese people still practice their Christianity only in secrecy?

If you and your friends are not Christians, then what do you think of Christians?

QUESTION: Why have the peoples of the Pacific Rim, who are among the smartest in the world, stopped making babies, and why were they making vastly fewer babies in 2007 than they were a mere seven years earlier, in 2000?

Which is to say: The Pacific Rim is not only dying, but its death continues to accelerate. Why is this?

Nancy Pelosi is right.

A strange thing happened today.  I agreed with Nancy Pelosi and disagreed with George Bush.  Today Nancy Pelosi said this "If freedom loving people throughout the world do not speak out against China and the Chinese in Tibet, we have lost all moral authority to speak out on human rights,"  It is a sad day when a Liberal Democrat does the right thing while Main Republicans in leadership positions sit on the sideline and watch.  Foxnews Link
