"Suspect found that claims Dalai Llama Started Riots"

Shanghai Daily reports that “FACTS” show that the Dalai Llama is responsible for the unrest in Tibet. Even though he has on many occasions called for peaceful protest.  We also know that the main agitators are those who are tired of the Dalai Llama’s peaceful ways and want a more immediate change.

They report that “A suspect in connection with the Lhasa violence has confessed that the "security department" of the "Tibetan government-in-exile" asked the suspect to hand around leaflets promoting the so-called "Tibetan people's uprising movement" to civilians and monks in Tibet, according to the article.”

A suspect?  Wonder what condition this “suspect” is in now.  Perhaps this should read A bloodied and weeping suspect confessed.  Or under threat of having his organs harvested and sold to the highest bidding Japanese man he confessed.  We are all well aware of the soft peaceful touch the Chinese have at getting confessions.

It really is amazing to me that China keeps doing this stuff. I guess it plays well to the farmers in the middle of China but most of my students here in Shanghai don’t buy any of the bull that comes from Xinhua.  Perhaps they do this so that in 50 years they can say there is disagreement about the history or confusion about what really happened.  Easier to rewrite history that way.  Xinhua also reported that China is more then willing to have open talks with the Dalai Llama.  Here’s the link “As long as Dalai Lama abandons the claim for "Tibet independence," especially uses his influence to stop the violence in Tibet, and recognize both Tibet and Taiwan as inseparable parts of China, the Chinese government is to continue resuming dialogues with him, the Chinese premier said.”

So for the Chinese to talk to the Dalai Llama he must agree to all of their demands and give up anything he would want to talk about in the first place.  “Excuse me Chinese Government, I would like to talk to you about the possible independence of Tibet.” Said the Dalai Llama  “Sure, we are open to talking with you as long as you agree there is no independence for Tibet”  So what is the point of talking at all.
