China News Admits Tibet and Tibetans are not Chinese

Shanghai Daily

In an accidental admission today a report on the Shanghai Daily web page admits that Tibetans are not Chinese.

"In Los Angeles, the Chinese American community has been enraged by "Tibet independence" activists' attempts to disrupt the global torch relay of the Beijing Olympics and some prominent members have acted to fight back, the Los Angeles Times reported on Friday."

Read this carefully.  They are saying that Chinese people do not support the Tibetan cause.  Chinese people are "enraged"   On one hand they claim Tibet and Tibetans are Chinese.  But now we find out that anyone who supports Tibetan independence is not Chinese.  How else can the "Chinese"  be "enraged" So according to this Tibetans support independence therefore they are not Chinese.  Thanks for the admission guys.
The main gist of this article is about some 7000 names on an online petition to get CNN to apologize for a racist remark that wasn't a racist remark.  According to the article Jack Cafferty made a remark on a news show titled "In the Situation Room"  I have never watched this show and I do not know this person. I live in China and we don't get real CNN.  Here is the racist remark that Mr. Cafferty is reported to have said.

"they (Chinese) are basically the same bunch of goons and thugs they have been in the past 50 years,"

I am pretty sure Cafferty did not add the (Chinese)  in fact anyone with any understanding of English at all can read this sentence for what it is.  An attack on the government of China not the people.  Chinese people have lived in this area for 5000 years according to their own history.  So why would Cafferty only speak of the last 50 years.  Well because the communist took over about 50 years ago.  So is he speaking of Chinese people, Chinese culture or Chinese government.  This is a nice little tactic that is used a lot in China to get the people to believe something that is not true.  I am sure on Monday I will bet question from my student about this.  They will ask me how an American on TV can make such a racist statement.  It will take about 30 minutes to fix the problem.

Now for the part that really is making me angry.

"Many people from the Chinese American community also feel angry that the Western media has been biased against China in its reporting of the recent riots in China's Tibet Autonomous Region, the influential and best-selling newspaper said."

So let me see if I understand.  You where able to escape China one way or another you now live in America and have either become an American or your probable on the path to citizenship.  However, you don't believe other people should be able to make the escape from tyranny as you.  I am not xenophobic but any Chinese person living in America who thinks its ok for the country they escaped from to destroy the Tibetan people and culture should be deported back to China immediately.  They obviously do not understand the culture they live in now.  Because the U.S. is about free speech I believe they need a lesson in free speech that they can practice for a few years in China before we let them come back to the U.S.   Freedom for me but not freedom for Tibet.
