The spokesperson Jiang Yu made the remarks when asked to comment on the statement in which Pelosi said "I believe that International Olympic Committee made a mistake in awarding the 2008 Summer Games to China."

As much as I dislike her, and I know it may be all politics, she is saying the right the right things

    Jiang said it is the solemn decision made by the IOC to award the 2008 Summer Games to Beijing, which represents the universal aspiration of all the people across the world including the United States.

This is a very important line guys.  Read it again.  This is why it is so important that we make a statement at the Olympics.  They truly belive this.  If the Olympics are in China then that means the people of the world support China and its policies.  It is the will of the people that China is the way it is.  They have repeated this over and over in the Tibet issue.  It is important to them to feel like the world agrees with them.  In China the government tells the people its will. They believe this is the same all over the place.  If your President comes to our opening ceremony then ALL of your people support us.

    To ensure a smooth success of the torch relay in San Francisco is the common aspiration of both the Chinese and U.S. people and conforms to the interests of both sides, said Jiang.

    "We urge concerned political figures of the United States to respect the spirit and principles of the Olympic Games, adopt a responsible attitude toward the Games and torch relay, and not to do anything that is against the people's aspiration and will disturb and harm the Olympics and torch relay," said Jiang.

What?   what the hell can political figures do about anything.  This is not Beijing buddy.  This is the U.S.  If political figures try to stop people from going out and protesting your murdering government then they will probable not be political figures much longer.  Just curious exactly what you would have us do?   Sell their organs?  put them in "Reeducation Camps" If the U.S. Government could stop protest that they didn't like don't you think all the war protest that you like to talk about to put down the U.S. would have been stopped a long time ago?
